Storage boxes should be clear plastic if possible. Place a few cedar chips into the containers to repel small bugs. Place the storage containers in shelving units up off of the ground. This will help with cleaning maintenance. You will easily be able to sweep around the storage areas and keep them dry. Plus, bugs won't be able to make their homes under the containers sitting directly on the basement floor.
